About Puzzlune
Puzzlune is a free, independent home for 12 daily logic and word puzzles, built and run by one developer. This page says who that is, why the site exists, and how every board is made and checked.
Who makes it
Puzzlune is made by Ikuhei Kure, an independent developer based in Japan who builds small daily puzzle games for iOS and the web. Most of the generators on this site started life inside those apps (Queens, Zip, Pips, Mini Sudoku, Spelling Bee, Waffle, Quordle and Octordle each have an App Store counterpart with the same puzzles) and were ported here so that the daily is identical on both. The same person runs the single-game sites Tango Unlimited, Poople Unlimited and Krillion Unlimited. There is no company and no team.
Why it exists
The best small puzzles of the last few years are scattered across a dozen apps and sites, each with one puzzle a day and the rest locked. We wanted one place where every one of them has a free daily, unlimited practice, a complete archive, and hints that teach the logic instead of just filling a square. Puzzlune is that place, and the plan is simple: add the games people keep asking for, keep every one of them free, and never copy an original board.
How the puzzles are made and checked
- Own generators for every game. Logic puzzles are built solution-first: the generator makes a full valid grid, then removes clues until removing one more would break uniqueness or force a guess.
- Two solvers, every board. A deduction-only solver (the same rules a person would use) must finish the board without guessing, and a brute-force search must confirm exactly one solution. Boards that fail either test are discarded.
- Difficulty is measured. Easy, medium and hard are assigned from which techniques the solver needed and how often, not by hand. Each game's how-to-play page explains its techniques; each archive page says what its board needed.
- Word lists are calibrated against the originals' published answers, so required words are words people know, and bonus words are accepted without changing a puzzle's maximum score.
- Players close the loop. Every game has a way to report a missing word or a board that feels wrong, and corrections ship with the daily build.
What's different from the originals
- Unlimited mode for every game, with undo and (where it fits) a zen mode.
- A free archive of every past day, with the answer and a note on difficulty.
- Hints that name the rule, and a post-game review that marks each move helpful or not.
- Our own boards and word lists throughout; the originals' puzzles are never reproduced.
How the site runs
Puzzlune is a static website: no accounts, nothing to install, progress and streaks in your own browser. It is supported by ads and free to play. Details are in the privacy policy. Game names are used to describe the style of puzzle; Puzzlune is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by The New York Times, LinkedIn, or any other publisher of the original games.
